Ontario is helping celebrate 40 years of exciting displays and thought-provoking presentations at the Ontario Science Centre, by supporting three new exhibitions.
The province is providing the Ontario Science Centre with $1 million through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF) to develop and promote three major exhibits as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
New features such as the Science of Spying and Lizards and Snakes Alive! will build on the Ontario Science Centre’s record of attracting and engaging 40 million visitors since opening its doors to the public in 1969.
“Science and innovation are key ingredients for a strong knowledge-based economy,” said Culture Minister Aileen Carroll. “Our government is proud to support a remarkable line-up of events that will continue to build on the Centre’s 40 year record of inspiring visitors through programs that celebrate science and discovery.”
“Ontario is proud to celebrate 40 years of science and discovery by helping promote a remarkable line-up of anniversary events that are sure to engage visitors and draw new audiences,” said Kathleen Wynne, MPP Don Valley West. "The new interactive exhibits will build on the Centre's success in making science a fun and memorable experience."
"The OCAF board is thrilled to be able to invest in and support the Centre's 40th anniversary special exhibitions to help make them major tourist attractions this year and next" said Dr. Murray Frum, Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Chair.
