Revenue is generated through the creation, production, manufacturing and distribution of culture goods and services to consumers. 

This is called the ‘creative chain’ and it helps employ thousands of people in the province and contributes billions to the economy.

Example of the ‘creative chain’ for a book:

  • Creation   The book is written by a self-employed writer.
  • Production The book is produced by a book publisher who adds value to the book, such as editing.
  • Manufacturing A printer reproduces the book in large numbers.
  • Distribution  The book is distributed by book wholesalers and sold through retailers, such as book stores.
  • Other services Agents, managers and organizations representing publishers and writers help support the writer.
